Mission of the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of diaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.



The Del Norte County Chapter of the American Red Cross was charted on June 6th, 1917. The Del Norte Chapter currently has a total of 32 Red Cross instructors to provide First Aid, CPR, Aquatics and Water Safety, HIV/AIDS education and training. Classes in Adult, Infant/Child, and Community CPR and CPR for the Professional Rescuers are offered. In addition, Standard and Community First Aid, Water Safety, Lifeguard Training, Babysitting, and California Child Care Health and Safety are among the courses that are given.
